Police Detective Salary Information
In 2004, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, police detectives can expect to earn median annual salaries of $53,990. In the same year, the upper 10 percentile of detectives earned annual salaries of $86,010 or more. Individuals with bachelor’s degrees can begin careers for the Los Angeles Police Department earning $56,898 a year. Moreover, according to the BLS, job demand for detectives will continue to increase through 2012. Because of the poor economy, crime will probably continue to rise, so the services of qualified and educated detectives and other officers will continue to be in demand.
