TSA Screener Career, Job, Degrees and Training Information

If you decide to work as a TSA screener, you will perform security related duties at airports. TSA screener must screen passengers by leading them through metal detectors, operate luggage screening equipment designed to recognize any objects in carryon bags not allowed on planes, and using a metal detector wand to further screen suspicious passengers or those setting off the metal detector.



How to become a TSA screener:
  • Before applying, enroll in a program to earn an associate's or bachelor's degree in criminal justice. This is not required for entry level positions, but will improve your opportunities with the TSA.
